Chest of Sorrows ๐ŸŽญ

Seven arrives at the local coffee shop to meet Jack. This is the moment sheโ€™s been building up in her head for months, now. The last time she saw Jack, they had a very emotional breakup, resulting in Jack moving out in the middle of the night. It was very foggy that night and the moment his car left the driveway, a torrential downpour drenched a shell shocked young Seven standing in her driveway.

He has to pick up diapers, Seven reminds herself. Jack is married. Seven closes her eyes and pictures Jack holding a newborn baby, as if heโ€™s swinging a golf club on a Saturday evening. Kat, his wife, she makes a lovely mother. Sheโ€™s very mild mannered and she runs a candle business out of their home. She is basically a perfect housewife for a man like Jack, a man who has to feel self important in every situation. Their wedding looked lovely, on social media. Seven was definitely not invited to that particular party.

According to a mutual friend from college, Kat wasnโ€™t always so mild mannered. She was a bit of a party girl before she decided to try on the traditional role, specifically tailored to Jackโ€™s specifications. Seven rolls her eyes as she orders her cappuccino. Sitting at a table, waiting for your married ex boyfriend to pop in with a bag of diapers, not the best feeling in the world.

Kat met Jack right before Valentineโ€™s Day. He asked her out after a chance meeting in a book store, she said yes and she met him at the theatre on Valentineโ€™s Day. What happened next is slightly mysterious, as rumors of some sort of rendezvous ending in a marriage proposal flew about town. Their relationship hit a few bumps but they did make it to that beautiful ceremony, in the end. Seven sighs. Where is Jack? Heโ€™s fifteen minutes late. Nervously, Seven opens her script and stares down at the pages. He can only say yes or no, Seven, get a grip.

Sipping the foam on her cappuccino, Seven silently reads her own words back to herself. Reciting the language in her head as if she knows the material by heart. Line by line, she realizes that if Jack doesnโ€™t want to work on this project, heโ€™s definitely a moron. This makes Seven smile. Looking up, she catches the cute young barista staring at her, shyly. She waves and the young man goes back to his work at the counter. If only Jack would hurry up with those damn diapers. Thatโ€™s something both women can agree on.
