for love

love is painted with a slanted brush
stolen glances, racing hearts, hands
sometimes love is agony, bitter pain
love can even be a slow moving crash
a fire in your chest,  flowing tears
watching, as the one you love flails
life can be maddening and terrifying
it rips through our hearts and minds
as if a tornado met volcano eruption
to be human is to know pain, to love
triumph comes once the burning slows
when life steadily becomes beautiful
love will flourish again, with grace
